Police Throw Down Stop Sticks to End High-Speed Chase on Route 6

Four people were arrested Thursday.

State Police said they used stop sticks to end a high-speed chase on Route 6 Thursday afternoon.

Four people were arrested. Police said they stole a 2008 Nissan Altima and led officers on a chase from Sandwich to Bourne.

The chase ended when a trooper threw down stop sticks near the Sagamore Bridge. The driver stopped after seeing the sticks and everyone in the vehicle was arrested, police said.

The driver was Daneka Pires, 21, of Quincy, police said. She was charged with a host of crimes, including stealing a vehicle and reckless driving. Pires also had several warrants, police said.

Three passengers were charged with receiving stolen property:

  • Shaqueira Fergus, 21, of Roslindale
  • Richard Mendes, 26, of Boston
  • Gladys Olivares, 36, believed to be of Boston

Police said at one point, Pires drove on grass next to the highway to pass stopped vehicles.
