Girl Punched in Face in Abduction Attempt, Knees Attacker in Groin to Escape, Barnstable Police Say
Police are looking for a male suspect.

Barnstable police said a 16-year-old Cotuit girl escaped a violent abduction attempt Monday.
The girl was dropped off at her bus stop on Putnam Avenue in Cotuit Monday afternoon when she was followed by a man in a pickup truck, police said. The man got out of the truck, punched the girl in the face, and tried to pull her inside, police said during a news conference. The girl kneed the man in the groin and was able to escape and notify police.

Here’s the suspect’s description:
- White male
- Driving reddish brown, older model 4-door or extended cab pickup truck with rust around the front driver’s side wheel
- Stands about 5 feet, 10 inches
- Tall, thin build
- Short, thick dark brown/gray hair
- Clothes were spattered with paint
The incident comes just days after police in south central Massachusetts reported attempted child abductions in Uxbridge, Northbridge, and Upton.
