Search Continues For Plane, Pilot After Crash Off Cape Cod Coast
The plane was flying from Pennsylvania to Chatham Municipal Airport when it crashed about 3-and-a-half miles from Nauset Beach.
ORLEANS, MA — The U.S. Coast Guard are searching for a small plane that crashed into the ocean off the coast of Cape Cod.
The white and beige, Piper 28 aircraft was believed to have gone down around 10:30 p.m., Sunday, 3-and-a-half miles from Nauset Beach. The pilot was the only person on board, Coast Guard officials said.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane left Reading Regional Airport in Reading, Pennsylvania, and was headed to Chatham Municipal Airport.

The plane's last transmitted signal was at 6:49 p.m., descending at 4,000 feet per minute.
