See Cape Cod From Space: A U.S. Astronaunt's Perspective

BARNSTABLE, MA — Have you ever wonder what Cape Cod looks like from outer space? Well now you can catch a glimpse from Earth, thanks to a U.S. astronaut.

Shane Kimbrough, the commander of NASA SpaceX Crew-2, shared a couple photos he took Saturday, from his six-month mission aboard the International Space Station.

"Cape Cod is easy to recognize from space!" Kimbrough tweeted. "This hook-shaped peninsula of Massachusetts is a popular summertime destination filled with quaint villages, incredible seafood, and iconic lighthouses. Hope everyone in Cape Cod is having a great weekend!"

Kimbrough, a retired U.S. Army colonel, joined NASA in 2004 and completed his first spaceflight in 2008 on STS-126, where he performed two spacewalks. Prior to his current mission with NASA SpaceX Crew-2, he had logged 189 days in space.

Kimbrough, along with U.S. astronaut Megan McArthur, France's Thomas Pesquet, and Japan's Akihiko Hoshide, began their mission on April 23, when the Crew Dragon Endeavour spacecraft launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canveral, Florida.
