Swimming At Cape Beach Halted After Shark Sighting

The lone shark was seen in the water near Head of the Meadow beach on Saturday afternoon.

TRURO, MA — The Head of the Meadow beach in Truro was closed Saturday afternoon after a confirmed shark sighting.

The Atlantic Shark Conservancy reported the sighting at around 1:30 p.m., saying that a single shark had been seen in the water. The beach was closed to swimming, but visitors were still allowed to use the beach area.

Ocean beaches will be closing across Massachusetts at the end of the day Saturday due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Henri, which is expected to bring high winds and heavy rain to the Cape beginning around noontime Sunday.
