Craigville Beach Shooting

One person was injured from what police said were possible gunshots in the Craigville Beach parking lot during the weekend of May 27.

Police report that two people were shot at while parked in their car at the beach. One suffered minor injuries from broken glass.

During the investigation, several key pieces of evidence, including video surveillance, were recovered by detectives, police said.

Hyannis Main Street Shooting

Officers responded to the area of Main Street and High School Road in Hyannis for reported gunshots around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

When they arrived, police found a man that was shot in both legs. They began treatment on him at the scene.

The victim was taken first to Cape Cod Hospital, but was later flown to a Boston area hospital for treatment on the non-life-threatening injuries.

Additional units also responded, finding a damaged car a short distance away on High School Road. The car likely fled the scene of the shooting and crashed into an uninvolved vehicle, police said.

The passengers in that car were unharmed in the accident.

Police determined that the shooting wasn't a random act of violence and are continuing an investigation.

The Barnstable Police Department is still working with numerous Cape Cod Police Departments, the Massachusetts State Police and the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s office to locate and arrest the other individuals involved in both incidents, officials said.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact Detective Kyle Phelan at 508-778-3874 or 293@barnstablepolice.com.
