Travel Ban Lifted In MA Counties After Storm Shutdown

The state yesterday banned nonessential travel in four southeastern counties due to the major winter storm pummeling the region.

BARNSTABLE, MA — The travel ban imposed in several Massachusetts counties Monday has been lifted, the governor’s office said Tuesday.

The state on Monday issued a prohibition against nonessential travel in four southern Massachusetts counties: Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes and Plymouth. Officials ended the ban at noon on Tuesday, according to a statement.

“While we are lifting the travel ban, the state of emergency remains in effect for some counties, and we urge people to continue using caution and stay home today if possible to allow crews to do their work,” said Gov. Maura Healey in a statement.
