Five Things You Need To Know Today: Feb. 8
- The Hyannis Water Board meets at 3:15 and a water quality RFP prelim review will be delivered, there will be a water tank update and Conservation Commission report over safety concerns will be discussed.
- The Barnstable Renewable Energy Commission and the Cape Light Compact are hosting a Teacher's Reception on Renewable Energy Education Materials at from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Cape Light Compact will be telling teachers about education programs and materials it can provide for free, plus free snacks and door prizes.
- Not only kids can play with their food. College is holding auditions for its series, where local playwrights’ original scripts are featured in workshop readings. Go to the Tilden Arts Center Studio Theater with your script from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
- Think things are too complicated? Not entirely religious, but looking to slow things down a bit? Check out a Voluntary Simplicity Discussion Course at the from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It's a five week discussion on slowing down and living more deliberately and more lightly on the earth. Sounds pretty good - who doesn't want to live lighter?
- The Barnstable School Committee meets at 7 p.m. at town hall's hearing room. On the agenda, a school improvement plan, a second reading of an amendment to the bullying prevention policy, information about a preschool program, an initial presentation of FY'12 budget, a facilities update and the committee will meet in executive session to discuss collective bargaining strategy.
