'We Need Closure': Daughter of Cape Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Begs Driver To Come Forward

"We don't have any ill will towards that person, but we need to know what happened" Alexander Gribko's daughter Melinda Gribko-Reyes said.

YARMOUTH, MA — The daughter of an 85-year-old man who died in a hit-and-run crash in Yarmouth is begging for the driver responsible for his death to forward.

Alexander Gribko, of Yarmouth, was taking a walk Tuesday morning, before he was struck by a car on Winslow Gray Road between Swan Lake Road and Joshua Baker Road, according to police. He was found around 7:30 a.m. by an officer with the Yarmouth Department of Natural Resources. Fire officials pronounced Gribko dead at the scene.

Melinda Gribko-Reyes, Gribko's youngest of his three daughters, told the Boston Globe, her father was healthy and lived an active life. He boasted to his family that his doctor believed he could have lived to be 100. And now, Gribko-Reyes is looking for answers.

"How would it feel to have your family member was just left on the side of the road?" Gribko-Reyes told the Boston Globe. "We don’t have any ill will towards that person, but we need to know what happened. And we need an apology and we need closure. My dad was 85. But that doesn’t mean his life was any less valuable."

As of Thursday morning, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call Yarmouth police at 508-775-0445, extension 2100.
