Man accused of striking officer at Cape Cod concert pulled over 5 times this year, prosecutor says (boston25news.com) — A Barnstable police officer suffered serious injuries, including broken bones, after being struck by a car while directing traffic outside the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis following a ZZ Top concert. Prosecutors say the 43‑year‑old driver, who pleaded not guilty, had been pulled over five times in the past year and remains held without bail as the investigation continues.
   

2. Police seek suspect in violent road-rage assault on Cape Cod (boston.com) — Barnstable police are asking residents for help identifying a driver who allegedly assaulted a 74-year-old Barnstable resident during a Sept. 9 road-rage incident between Fuller Road and Marie-Ann Terrace in Centerville. The victim suffered significant injuries and was treated at Cape Cod Hospital, and police have released a detailed description of the suspect and his dark Volkswagen SUV.
   

3. ICE wants robot dogs. One named Roscoe helped Cape Cod SWAT end a standoff in 2024. (capecodtimes.com) — A 2024 Hyannis standoff, where Barnstable police used a Boston Dynamics "robot dog" nicknamed Roscoe to safely monitor an armed suspect, is now informing national debate as ICE moves to buy similar robots. The piece explains how Roscoe helped Cape Cod SWAT avoid putting officers in danger and outlines federal plans to deploy the same technology in risky situations.
   

4. Construction Underway for Grant-Funded Solar Canopy at the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office (capecod.com) — A new solar canopy is being built at the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office, cutting electricity use at the county correctional facility by about 25% and saving taxpayers up to $130,000 a year.
