Boston Resident Kathleen O'Halloran Receives Graduation Award from MGH Institute of Health Professions

BOSTON – Boston resident Kathleen O’Halloran was awarded the Julie Atwood Award for Excellence during the MGH Institute of Health Professions 2013 Commencement ceremonies on May 9, 2013.

O’Halloran, who graduated from the Boston health sciences graduate school with a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, received the award for possessing a strong base of academic knowledge, applying theory to the delivery of clinical service in an exemplary manner, demonstrating the highest values and ethics, applying research findings to clinical practice, and exhibiting professional excellence and leadership.

This award was established in 1997 in honor of Julie Atwood, former Director of the Speech-Language Pathology Department at MGH, and Professor at the MGH Institute since its 1977 inception.

According to U.S. News & World Report, the MGH Institute’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program is ranked first in New England, and 7th in the country.

A total of 492 students in physical therapy, nursing, communication sciences and disorders, and health professions education graduated during the MGH Institute’s ceremonies at Boston’s Hynes Convention Center. Founded in 1977, the school has more than 1,200 students and 5,000 alumni.
