Will Jackman and The Board of Directors
of the Museum of African American History cordially invite you to the Annual Meeting and Exhibit Preview The Color of Baseball in Boston.
During this 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park, The Color of Baseball in Boston: The History of Black Teams, the Players and a Sporting Community tells little-known stories of players of color and teams who distinguished themselves from the 1800s through the mid 1900s. The exhibit includes the uniform of Will "Cannonball" Jackman, newspaper articles, images of players and teams, playing fields, a base signed by Red Sox players for Jackie Robinson Day, baseball equipment and baseball cards as well as photographs of Negro League team, the Memphis Red Sox, by Ernest Withers. This exhibit provides a history and prism through which the continuing uplift of blacks in America may be viewed and understood.
Bill Littlefield, award-winning host of NPR's, Only A Game, is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard School of Education, professor of Humanities at Curry College and columnist for The Boston Globe.
