Announcing the Second Annual Fall & Winter Farm Share Fair: Hosted by The Belmont Food Collaborative

Fresh Produce Through the Winter! Thursday, October 16, Watertown Public Library, 123 Main Street, Watertown, 5:30–7:30 p.m.

Discover a wide variety of foods available in the cooler months ahead. You can get to know area farmers and food producers, and sample new foods. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the abundance of fresh local produce available in the winter: Apples, carrots, potatoes, winter squash, as well as salad greens, beans, garlic, grains, onions, winter radishes, salad turnips, and celeriac.

Farm Share Fair confirmed participants are: Boston Organics, C&C Lobsters and Fish; Farmers to You; The Food Project; Pioneer Valley Grain CSA, Red Fire Farm, Shared Harvest CSA, and Something GUD. Check our web site, www.belmontfood.org, for updates.

About the Belmont Food Collaborative: Our mission is to promote good health; enhance quality of life by providing education and information about healthy, active lifestyle choices; increase availability of fresh, locally produced foods within walking or cycling distance; help people in need obtain fresh, health foods; and promote and support local sustainable agriculture and home vegetable gardens. Our projects include running the Belmont Farmers’ Market, now in its ninth season; Community Growing, which grows produce in Belmont and donates the harvest to the Belmont Food Pantry; The Pomona Project, which sells edible landscaping plans; and classes on growing, seeds, and food preparation.
