Belmont Police, Citizens Honored For Saving Stabbing Victim

Three civilians saved a woman who had been stabbed in July and helped lead the police to her attacker.

BELMONT, MA — The Belmont Police Department along with three civilians were honored by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan for their work saving a woman who was stabbed in July. The group was given this year’s 911 First Responders Award.

The three civilians, Kenneth Hynes, Fabio Monteiro de Pina and Kaio Gomes called in the July 19th stabbing to police. A woman was stabbed on Partridge Lane in Belmont and the men were able to help keep her stable until police arrived. According to the DA's office the men, "Provided vital information to the authorities about the incident that ultimately led to the apprehension of the defendant."

The First Responder’s Award is presented to one or more first responders or investigators for demonstrating extraordinary courage, bravery and selflessness in a way that reminds us of the first who responded to the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

“The collective effort of these citizens and the Belmont Police Department exemplifies the extraordinary result of team-work in this case, leading to the capture of the defendant and possibly saving the life of the victim. When citizens partner with law enforcement, we find a positive impact in the safety of our communities, a faster resolution of the cases and justice and security for the victims”, said District Attorney Ryan during the awards.
