Chenery Book Awards Bestowed On Students
Annual honors for students who show excellence or the most improvement in language arts.
They got dressed up and sat up straight as parents happily snapped photographs of the moment.
For the dozen Upper School students attending the , the occasion for all the hoopla was the awarding to them of the Chenery Book Award, the recognition of proficiency and gaining understanding of language.
The annually awards books – this year it is "Americans’ Favorite Poems," by Robert Pinsky and Maggie Dietz – to honor seventh and eighth grade students for excellence and for most improvement in Language Arts. Each student was nominated by their teachers.

The Chenery Book Awards was given by Board of Library Trustee Mary Keenan and Friend's Josephine Fang at the School Committee Meeting on May 24.

GRADE 7
Lisa Connell, Amanda Jung, Colleen McDonough, Adam Niles, Sophia Lubarr, Princy Sindurakar, Alison Ruane, Grace Eysenbach and Sam Sorenson.
GRADE 8
Michelle Connors, Grace Ramsey, Deshawn Fredrick, Marlene Goncalves, Eva Gallagher, Nicole Keikian, Jill MacKinnon, Lucia Guzikowski and Noah Johnston.
It should be noted that Lucia was awarded the Pinsky book in 2010 for excellence, so this year her award was "Roget’s Thesaurus."
