Commodore Builders and the Massachusetts Building Congress Co-Host "Lunch with Legends" Featuring Boston's Construction Industry Leaders
Joseph Albanese and Dick Collari Share their Perspectives on a Quickly Changing Industry

NEWTON, MA (October 28, 2014) – Commodore Builders, a leading general contractor and construction management firm, and the Massachusetts Building Congress (MBC) co-hosted a “Lunch with Legends” event on September 24th at their headquarters in Newton, MA. Past MBC Presidents Joe Albanese, President and CEO of Commodore Builders, and Dick Collari, Owner and President of Collari Associates, provided insight into how the industry is changing and gave valuable advice to members of the MBC’s 20|30 Club, a group of emerging leaders from the architecture, engineering, and construction fields.
Joe Albanese of Commodore Builders has a diverse career background. He has the global perspective of a business executive with 28 years of military service, and the local ties of a Newton resident who remains firmly rooted in the community he grew up in. Joe is a registered Professional Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering from UMass Lowell and an MBA from Boston University. He joined the Navy after college and then pursued a career in the construction industry. He worked as a project manager at A.J. Martini, an executive at Macomber and later as a senior executive at Shawmut. He founded Commodore in 2002, and was President of the MBC in 2006. In September 2009, after twenty-eight years of military service concurrent with his civilian career, Joe retired as a Captain in the United States Navy Civil Engineer Corps. He was awarded the distinguished Legion of Merit medal for his outstanding service and achievement. Joe is currently the Vice Chairman of the AGC of Massachusetts and sits on the boards of the Navy Civil Engineer Corps/Seabee Historical Foundation; The USS Constitution Museum; and The Village Bank.
Dick Collari has over 50 years of experience in the industry, and has had a multitude of project experiences. He graduated from Tufts University with a B.S in Civil Engineering and later attended the Advancement Management Program at Harvard Business School. Dick is well-known and respected throughout the Industry, having held top management positions at firms such as Hamilton Construction Equipment Corporation, George B.H. Macomber Company, Collari Associates and Payton Construction Company. Dick was the President of the MBC in 2004, and was a director until 2012. He has also been an active member in other various community organizations including; the AGC, the Town of Lynnfield Capital Planning Committee, First Trade Union Bank in Boston, and Massachusetts Council for Construction Employers.
