Farmers' Market Selling Edible Landscape Plants

Order by Saturday for a May pick up of a variety of fruit bearing plants.

The women that appears on the Belmont town seal is Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruits and gardens, representing the time when Belmont was best known for its agricultural output.

Before homes and schools, the town in the late 1800s was one of the garden centers of New England, renowned for its orchards and especially fruit such as its highly sought after strawberries that were grown year round in hot houses.

This year, the is once again running the Pomona Project, in which homeowners can purchase attractive and easy-to-care-for plantings that are not only appropriate to the local landscape but will bear edible fruit.
