Beverly Mayor's Race: Cahill vs. Ngotho On Nov. 2
Esther Ngotho has advanced to challenge four-time incumbent mayor Michael Cahill on Nov. 2. Steve Crowley, Rick Marciano lead way in Ward 3.

BEVERLY, MA — Esther Ngotho advanced to face four-time incumbent Beverly Mayor Michael Cahill for the top elected seat in the city as the two leading vote-getters in Tuesday's preliminary election.
Mayor Mike Cahill had two challenges for re-election with the other Marshall Sterman.
There were also three candidates for Ward 3 city council with Naisha Noelia Tatis, Euplio Marciano and Steven Crowley vying for the seats.

According to unofficial results, Crowley will advance to face Marciano after he edged Tatis by just eight votes.
"The primary election is complete," Crowley noted on social media Tuesday night at about 9 p.m. "Turnout was very low. The results are in and they are favorable."

Crowley and Marciano are now vying for the Ward 3 seat Stacey Ames is vacating after she said in June she would not be running for re-election.
Cahill finished with 59.9 percent of the 2,107 votes cast in the preliminary mayoral election. Ngotho was second at 28.9 percent with Sterman third at 10.4 percent.
Cahill won each precinct with the closest being Ward 1, Precinct 2 where he edged Ngotho by a 91-73 count. Ngotho finished second in every precinct.
Crowley earned 47.9 percent of the 173 votes cast in Ward 3. Marciano was second in unofficial results with 25.8 percent to Tatis at 23.5 percent.
