Beverly's Marinos Cafe Re-Opens at Cummings Center
Local favorite returns with new partner, staff baker, and more

Local favorite Marinos Café has returned to Beverly, opening at the former Boardroom Café at Cummings Center on April 1.
The café’s owners, Beverly residents Torie Farnsworth and Anthony Marino, closed their Rantoul Street location last April and just completed their second summer at Lime Rickey’s at Devereux Beach in Marblehead. Their goal has always been to reopen at a new location in Beverly.

Farnsworth and Marino have a new partner in this venture, Craig DeOrio. He owns another popular Beverly eatery, Fibber McGee’s, winner of the Taste of the North Shore Savory category at Beverly Bootstraps’ Best Chef 2015. DeOrio also owns The Tin Whistle in Salem.
“We are so excited to be back in Beverly, and look forward to seeing all our old Beverly customers and to welcoming many new customers,” said Farnsworth. “We have never had a kitchen this big before. Not only will we be offering our full breakfast and lunch menus, but we are thrilled to provide catering and welcome our in-house baker, Julie, aboard to make scrumptious, made-from-scratch baked goods for our customers.”

Joining baker Julie Thompson, a Johnson & Wales graduate, will be a staff made up of familiar faces from Marinos’ old Rantoul Street location as well as Boardroom Café–all experienced at creating the wide variety of made-to-order coffee drinks on the menu.
The café’s Facebook page has been abuzz with loyal customers eager to start enjoying breakfast and Marinos’ signature chicken cutlets. A family recipe, the cutlets are the basis for the “Marinos’ Signature” sandwich with homemade basil pesto, fresh mozzarella, and roasted red peppers. The secret is in the breadcrumbs, which head chef Marino makes from scratch.
Farnsworth, an Endicott College alum, and Marino, a Beverly native, first entered the local food scene in 2008, when they opened the original Marinos Café. They are self-proclaimed foodies with a passion for fresh, local food. The pair is active in the community and has won many local awards, including Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2012.
“Food service is one of the most important amenities at our busy campus,” according to Cummings Properties senior account manager Mike Farrell. “We are fortunate to add such a passionate and quality operator to the Cummings Center community. We look forward to enjoying great service and fantastic food from Marino’s Café for many years to come.”
Marinos Café is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Suite 107-P, which is located just past the information booth at the main entrance to Cummings Center. It also operates a second location–The Break Room–at 100 Cummings Center, Suite 151-J.
