Man Charged For Role In Fatal, Beverly Crash

Dean Santamaria-Capetanelis, 48, faces up to 2.5 years in prison and fines if found guilty.

BEVERLY, MA -- A Lynn man is facing charges in a fatal, March 2017 crash at a dangerous Beverly intersection. Dean Santamaria-Capetanelis, 48, who was rushing to the hospital after cutting his finger, faces fines and up to 2 1/2 years in jail if found guilty on charges of motor vehicle homicide by reckless driving, failing to stay within marked lanes and speeding. While Santamaria-Capetanelis told police at the scene of the March 28, 2017 crash he was at fault, he later refused to submit to blood tests or make statements without an attorney later than night at the hospital.

Jeffrey Delorenzo, 28, of Beverly, died from injuries sustained when he thrown from his vehicle during the three-car crash. The city is currently installing a roundabout at the intersection of Essex Street and Meadow Road that will hopefully prevent future accidents at the intersection.
