BEVERLY, MA — The 10th anniversary of the Ice Bucket Challenge — which late Beverly native and St. John's Prep and Boston College baseball player Pete Frates co-founded to raise money for ALS research in 2014 — will be commemorated with a Fenway Park ceremony next month.

The Ice Bucket Challenge has helped raise more than $220 million since its inception. Frates was diagnosed with ALS in 2013 and succumbed to the neurodegenerative disorder in 2019.

NWN Carousel and the Peter Frates Foundation will host the VIP event on Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. that will feature members of the Frates family, celebrity guest speakers, ALS researchers and dignitaries and will conclude with a massive Ice Bucket Challenge on the field at Fenway.
