'Small Local Grocery Store' Going Up in Place of Collapsed Building
Work is well underway to build a new convenience store at a Montserrat neighborhood location that has been home to a market for several decades.

A "small local grocery store" is under construction in the Montserrat store in a location where there has not been a store for many years and the former building collapsed.
The lot at the corner of Essex and Gardner streets has been a store for many years, but the former Lil' Peach there closed several years ago and then collapsed on a windy, rainy day in 2010.
The owner, Amit Patel, also owns Shop N' Go, just up Essex Street on the other side of the railroad tracks. He was not available for comment this week and a woman who answered the phone at the store only said the new business plans to open this spring before hanging up.
Patel told the Salem News in February that it will be called Woodbury Food Market and it will have takeout lunch and dinner foods.
The store will be 3,100 square feet with off-site parking, according to the city's development scorecard.
Even before it was a Lil' Peach store, the location has historically been home to a small market for decades. Before that, it was Larrabee's, which served as a neighborhood gathering spot across from Montserrat train station..
