The FREE Christmas Tree campaign is just one component of Coastal Windows & Exteriors’ initiative to help homeowners stay warm and cozy this winter. In fact, the company recently launched a Warm & Cozy Home Guide on its website, www.mycoastalwindows.com/warm-cozy/, to provide homeowners with tips and inspiration to keep their home warm this season.

The New England region is facing a very cold and snowy winter with increasing electricity and natural gas rates slated to slam consumers as National Grid implements higher winter rates up from 37% from last year. According to home exteriors expert Stephanie Vanderbilt, owner, Coastal Windows & Exteriors, this news does not mean that you have to suffer through a long cold winter paying exorbitant prices to heat your home.

Here are some tips to help offset increasing costs:

Reverse Your Ceiling Fans: Put your ceiling fan in reverse to produce an updraft that pushes heated air back down into the room. Heat rises … send it back down.

Caulk Windows and Doors: If the gaps between windows or doorframes are bigger than a nickel’s width, go to the Building Center and purchase some silicone caulk and reapply over those gaps.

Weather Stripping: Use as needed around doors, making sure you cannot see any daylight from inside your home.

Use a Digital Thermostat: For as little at $19 you can control your heat virtually. Set it to automatically turn the heat down when you’re not home to 65 degrees, no lower. Setting it lower forces your furnace to work twice as hard to make up the difference.

Upgrade Doors and Windows: If you have old inefficient windows it may be time to upgrade. Stop throwing money out drafty windows. Coastal Windows & Exteriors’ double and triple pane windows not only won Energy Star of the Year, the low-E on the glass literally saves energy, reflects heat, and cuts down the UV rays that damage furniture.

Don’t be left out in the cold this winter! To learn more about getting your FREE Christmas Tree and to learn about how to save money on your energy bills, call or email Coastal Windows & Exteriors at 978-304-0495 or www.mycoastalwindows.com
