Boston Man Who Jumped Out High-Rise Window Charged With Assault

A 43-year-old man was found dead in the apartment Sunday night.

BOSTON, MA — A man who jumped out a 12th story apartment window in an attempt to elude Boston police has been charged with assault.

The incident happened Sunday night when police went to a Northampton Street apartment building for a well-being check. Inside one of the units, police found the body of Jose Aponte, 43.

Also in the apartment was Michael Perry, 37. Police did not provide many details, but said the department SWAT team was called to break into the apartment to arrest Perry. As they did, Perry tried to jump out the window, but got caught. Police pulled him back into the building from the 11th floor.

Perry was hospitalized after the Sunday incident, but will be charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon when he gets out, police said.
