Marathon Monday is considered one of great sports days of the year. We in Massachusetts know it's a lot more than that. Perseverance, strength, and the human spirit have come to personify Patriots' Day, on and off the 26.2-mile course from Hopkinton to Boylston Street.
This year will be 121st running of the Boston Marathon, making it the oldest annual marathon in the country. It's the fourth anniversary of the 2013 bombings which killed three and injured more than 200.

How can I get to the Boston Marathon?
Well you could drive, but there are going to be tons of morning street closures and heavy traffic. In fact, here is a gigantic list of street closures just in case you feel daring (and please, don't think of trying Brookline either.) If you do manage to somehow get a spot, parking is free.
The smart traveler will use the MBTA, of course. Here's a map of where you could get off on the commuter rail and Green Line to view different areas of the Marathon route.
