Boston Marathon 2018 Results, Leaderboard, More

BOSTON, MA — As runners take their mark for the 2018 Boston Marathon, hundreds of thousands of spectators will be mobilizing to watch and cheer, near and far. The 26.2-mile course will be where perseverance, strength, and the human spirit will be on full display Patriots Day.

Monday will be the 122nd running of the Boston Marathon, making it the oldest consecutively held marathon in the country. It's the fifth anniversary of the 2013 bombings which killed three and injured more than 200.

What time does the Boston Marathon start?

The race is Monday, April 16 (Patriots Day). It starts at different times for different divisions, and the earlier races will start 10 minutes earlier this year than last in what appears an effort to separate the women's push rim wheelchair division from the men's.

How can I get to the Boston Marathon?

Well you could drive, but there are going to be tons of morning street closures and heavy traffic. Kenyan Geoffrey Kirui pulled away late from American Galen Rupp to win the men's elite race early, finishing in 2 hours, 9 minutes and 37 seconds. Kirui's countrywoman Edna Kiplagat won the women's elite race in. Kiplagat finished in an unofficial time of 2:21:53. Both were running Boston for the first time.

The men's and women's wheelchair races were swept by Switzlerand in record-setting fashion. Marcel Hug won down the Boylston Street stretch for his third straight victory, while Manuela Schar was the first to cross the finish line this year. For more on that: check out our results page.
