Boston Official Felix Arroyo Fired After Woman Claimed He Spanked Her

The Boston city official denies he sexually harassed a woman, but the city fired him Thursday any way.

BOSTON, MA — Boston city officials fired Felix Arroyo some four weeks after the city began looking into allegations that he sexually harassed a woman he had been supervising. Now the city is looking for fill the slot he leaves open the Boston Globe reports.

“Felix Arroyo has been terminated from the City of Boston after a comprehensive internal investigation,’’ Laura Oggeri, the city’s communications chief told the Boston Globe. “The City will immediately begin to search for candidates to fill the Chief of Health and Human Services position and we hope to announce an appointment soon.”

The city's health and human services chief had been on paid administrative leave since July pending that internal investigation, according to NECN.

A woman claimed he spanked her rear and grabbed the back of her neck, but Arroyo denied he did any such thing. The 38-year-old ran for mayor in 2013, before joining Walsh's administration.

Arroyo, son of another famous Arroyo, was elected to the Boston City Councilor At-Large position in 2009. He was born in the South End, raised in Hyde Park, and a graduate of the Boston Public Schools. He and his wife live in Jamaica Plain.
