Boston Restaurateur Out On Bail After Shooting Charge: Report
Patrick Mendoza previously co-owned the North End's Trattoria di Monica with his brother.

BOSTON, MA — A Boston restaurant co-owner is out on bail less than a year after pleading not guilty to shooting at a man and striking a nearby pastry shop, according to Boston25.
Patrick Mendoza — who previously co-owned the North End's Trattoria di Monica with his brother — entered his plea last July following the shooting on Hanover Street earlier that month in which Mendoza is accused of firing at but missing 60-year-old Rocco Giovanello, striking Modern Pastry's window instead, The Boston Globe reported previously reported.
Mendoza was wanted for weeks on a warrant in connection with the shooting before being captured by the Boston Police Department's Fugitive Unit, according to police.

Giovanello and Mendoza had been in a longtime dispute, with Mendoza's probation in a 2022 assault case involving Giovenello "due to expire on the day of the shooting," WCVB reported last year, citing sources and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.
