Boston Schools Getting New Start, End Times

The Boston School Committee will reveal which schools start and end at what times Thursday.

BOSTON, MA — Many Boston schools will have a new start and end time next fall. The Boston School Committee approved Wednesday a policy that would alter the times students get to and leave school. Those new times would be announced for each school impacted on Thursday.

The committee approved the policy unanimously.

Several school districts have considered - some even approving - later start times for students as a way for them to get more sleep. In Boston's case, the altered dismissal times would keep kids coming home so close to dusk. The Boston School Committee is leaning on an MIT research team for many of the specifics, according to The Boston Globe.
