Boston's First Homicide Victim Of 2023 Is Mattapan Man
The Blue Hill Avenue shooting happened near dawn on New Year's Day.

BOSTON, MA — Boston police have identified the man killed Sunday in a shooting, the city's first reported homicide victim of the new year.
Police found the shooting victim around 6 a.m. on New Year's Day along Blue Hill Avenue's commercial trip. Jymaal Cox, 33, a Mattapan resident, was determined to be dead at the scene, Boston police said.
A second shooting victim was found nearby. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
