Bruins Set Single-Season Wins Record With Victory Over Flyers
The Bruins have locked up the top seed for the playoffs and made history with their 63rd win of the season Sunday.

BOSTON, MA — The Bruins broke the record for the most wins in an NHL season when they beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3 on Sunday for their 63 victory of the season. The previous record of 62 wins was held by the 1995-1996 Detroit Red Wings and the 2018-2019 Tampa Bay Lightning.
Goaltender Jeremy Swayman, who had 34 saves in the win at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, called breaking the record "a special honor," according to USA Today. The Bruins got the win despite missing six regular players and with a lineup featuring several players from the AHL's Providence Bruins squad.
The Bruins managed to keep up what Coach Jim Montgomery has said is their "signature calling" of closing out games, CBS News Boston reported. The Flyers scored midway through the third period, but then the Bruins locked things down. They're now an impressive 46-1-2 when leading after the second period.

David Pastrnak scored a hat trick Sunday, giving him 60 goals on the season. He joins MVP favorite Connor McDavid as a 60-goal scorer on the team. The team's duo is the first to reach that mark since Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr did it for the 1995-1996 Pittsburgh Penguins, USA Today reported. Pastrnak and McDavid are the only two players in the league to record 60 goals this season.
The Bruins have won six in a row and with 131 points, are just one point shy of breaking the record held by the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens, according to Yahoo! Sports. They're in a good position to break that record with two games left against teams that are out of the playoff race.
