Kristin Canty, Owner of Woods Hill Pier 4 and The Block at Woods Hill in Seaport, is an avid enthusiast of nutrient dense and ancestral foods. She is partnering with long time friend, Author and Fermentation Expert Alex Lewin for a pop up class at The Block at Woods Hill on October 24. He will be teaching attendees how to ferment lemons, daikon and seasonal vegetables in this hands on fermentation class.

In this interactive class, guests will learn the fundamentals of preserving seasonal ingredients using simple techniques you can easily recreate at home. Expert Alex Lewin will walk through:

  • The difference between quick pickling & fermentation
  • How to build a balanced brine
  • Flavor combinations using herbs, spices, and aromatics
  • Best vegetables for pickling and seasonality
  • Safe storage and shelf life basics

The ticket also includes light refreshments and a curated spread of charcuterie from The Farm at Woods Hill and award winning raw milk cheeses. Attendees will also leave with their own house-made fermented lemons, daikon and seasonal vegetables.
