Marcus Smart Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Celtics guard Marcus Smart has tested positive for the new coronavirus, according to team officials.

BOSTON — Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart has tested positive for the new coronavirus, the team announced in a statement Friday night.

Team officials in a statement did not specify what player tested positive, but Marcus Smart later confirmed on Twitter he was tested Saturday and got his results back Friday.

"COVID-19 must be taken with the highest of seriousness," Smart tweeted. "I know it's a #1 priority for our nations health experts, & we must get more testing ASAP."

Smart also posted a video in his tweet telling fans he feels fine and isn't feeling any symptoms.

"I'm okay, I feel fine. I don't feel any of the symptoms. "Smart said in a video on Twitter. "But I can't stress enough practicing social distancing and keeping yourself a way from a large group of people and just really washing your hands and protecting yourself and helping protect others by protecting yourself."

According to team officials, Smart has been in isolation for several days. Team medical staff will continue to monitor Smart.
