Meet Jay Calderin, Founder & Executive Director of Boston Fashion Week, and one of the School of Fashion Design's senior instructors!

During Fall 2026, Jay will be teaching three online courses, all beginner levels with no prerequisite!

2D & 3D Design teaches the foundational principles of color and design theory - a great start to your fashion education. A fun, hands-on, and creative intro level class where students get to experiment and create with unusual materials to craft an avant garde garment. | THURSDAYS (online), 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Fashion Sketching I introduces students to the principles and techniques of presenting designs on paper in pencil watercolor and marker, and provides an opportunity to create original plates for a foundation portfolio. Students learn croquis development, silhouettes, and how to render texture, pattern, and embellishment of fabric. | THURSDAYS (online), 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM

History of Costume is a survey of the history of costume from antiquity through the present day, focusing on sources of inspiration for contemporary fashion design as well as theatrical costuming. | TUESDAYS (online), 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM
