All 24 Massachusetts Dressbarn Stores Closing
Dressbarn, which has been in business for nearly 60 years, said it will close all 650 of its stores because they aren't profitable enough.

Dressbarn, the women's clothing store that has been in business for nearly six decades, is hanging it up. Parent company Ascena Retail Group announced Monday it will close all 650 of the stores — including two dozen in Massachusetts — at an undisclosed date.
"All Dressbarn stores are open and conducting business as usual, as is Dressbarn's ecommerce site," the company said in a statement. "Customers can continue to shop at Dressbarn in-store and online and use Dressbarn-branded credit cards for purchases. There are no current changes to Dressbarn's return, refund, or gift card policies."
CFO Steven Taylor called the decision "difficult but necessary" as the stores had "not been operating at an acceptable level of profitability in today's retail environment."

The company employs about 6,800 people. The workers will be told about when individual stores will close and be given "transition support." Dressbarn also said it will continue paying its vendors and suppliers in full for products and services provided during the wind down process.
