Green Line Operator Not Guilty In 2021 Comm Ave Crash
Nearly 30 people were injured in the July 2021 crash near Boston University.

BOSTON, MA — A former Green Line operator who was at the helm when two trains collided along Commonwealth Avenue in 2021 was found not guilty Wednesday after a jury trial.
Owen Turner, 50, was found not guilty on a single charge of gross negligence. Twenty-seven people were injured in the July 30 evening crash.
Prosecutors accused Turner of speeding and failing to apply brakes before his train rear-ended another train near Agganis Arena.

Apart from the injuries, the collision took the Green Line B branch out of service for hours due to the investigation and damaged train tracks.
The 2021 Green Line crash was one of several incidents reviewed by the Federal Transit Administration, which issued a report at the end of August detailing a troubling recent history of T safety incidents.
