East Boston Fire Causes $700,000 in Damage

Boston Fire pointed at a likely cause.

A two-alarm blaze in East Boston was put out, but not before it caused an estimated $700,000 in damage.

The three-decker at 447 Frankfort St. had five adults present, but no one was injured, according to the Boston Fire Department.

Fire Investigators on scene for cause and point of origin. Chief estimated damage at $700,000.00. No injuries.

The fire was caused by the "careless disposal of smoking material," according to fire investigators.

Firefighters showed up at 2:35 p.m. and a second alarm was ordered. The department reported the heavy fire out at approximately 3:26 p.m.
