‘Jaws’ Is The Most Popular Horror Film Set In Massachusetts
Here's your movie playlist for tonight.

It’s October 31st, and that means that tonight you’ll find children and adults, alike, roaming neighborhoods in search of candy. Among the crowds you’ll see all kinds of costumes, some trendy and some classic. You may pass by Michael Meyers, considering the recent Halloween movie release, a Disney princess, a clown (hopefully not), and likely some costumes that only went about halfway there (hey, sometimes you just run out of time to put together that perfect costume).
Alternatively, you may be the type to post up in your apartment or house and avoid the masses. In which case, a new analysis on horror films vies is perfect for planning your relaxed evening — what better way to spend the holiday than watching a scary movie? Treetopia recently published a study on the most popular horror movie that was set in each state, and the result for Massachusetts is Jaws.
If you aren’t familiar, Jaws was released in 1975 and yes, it’s considered a horror film. The story surrounds a ferocious shark that the humans in the movie try to take down. (There is obviously more to the story, but to avoid spoiling anything, the description of the plot will stop there — you’ll have to watch it in order to get the full details.)

So, how does Massachusetts relate to it though? The story is staged to take place on Amity Island, MA, which is the movie’s name for Martha’s Vineyard. As anyone in Massachusetts knows, this is an island off the coast of the state. What’s great is that any local can visit the filming locations on Martha’s Vineyard — it was not only set there, but was also filmed there.
Even if you’re not into film, or if you are looking for kid-friendly activities, there are plenty of options you can consider for your Halloween.
