Jesuit List Of Credibly Accused Priests Has 22 With MA Ties
Out of the 22 priests with Massachusetts ties, 17 are deceased.

Twenty-two priests who had connections to Massachusetts were among 50 who have been "credibly accused" of sexual abuse in a list released Tuesday by USA Northeast Jesuit Province. The list includes members who faces at least one credible allegation of abusing a minor of vulnerable adult since 1950, the organization said.
Out of the 22 priests with Massachusetts ties, 17 are deceased. Some have already been publicly accused in the aftermath of the widespread sex abuse scandal in the early 2000s. See the full list here.
Rev. John J. Cecero said in a statement Tuesday he is making the list public in "hoping to contribute to healing from the pain and anger caused by clergy sex abuse and the lack of accountability and transparency on the part of church leadership."

"At the heart of this crisis is the painful, sinful and illegal harm done to children by those whom they should have been able to trust," Cecero said. "We did not know any best practices to handle these violations many decades ago and regrettably made mistakes along the way. What winds up being a very shameful history for the Church at large was made clear by investigative reporting in Boston in 2002."
