At Least 7 Shot At Caribbean Carnival Parade In Boston: Police

Shots were fired shortly before 7:45 a.m. during the festival in Dorchester, Boston police said.

BOSTON, MA — At least seven people were injured Saturday in a shooting at the Caribbean Carnival in Dorchester, according to Boston police.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired shortly before 7:45 a.m. at Blue Hill and Talbot avenues, a Boston Police Department spokesperson told Patch. According to police, all victims were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Arrests were made and multiple firearms were recovered, police said.

No additional information was immediately available. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

The shooting happened during the first of the carnival's two parades. The first parade started at 6:30 a.m. on Talbot Avenue at Kerwin Street and proceeded up Blue Hill Avenue to the Circuit Drive Entrance for Franklin Park.

A second parade is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. City Council President Ed Flynn has called for the second parade to be canceled, the Boston Herald reported.
