MA TV Station Names New Chief Meteorologist

A familiar face will take over after a longtime meteorologist announced he would be leaving the station last month.

BOSTON, MA — Boston 25 News has announced that Shiri Spear will be the station's chief meteorologist.

Spear will continue to anchor the station's morning coverage as she takes on the new role.

Spear joined the station in 2012. Since then, she has "become a household name, known for her accurate forecasts, calm guidance during severe weather, and warm connection with viewers," according to Boston 25 News.

Before she started at Boston 25 News, Spear was a meteorologist at an NBC station in Miami from 2010 to 2012. She was also a meteorologist and environmental reporter at WWLP-TV22 in Springfield.

Spear is a native New Englander who was raised in Hollis, NH.

"She has forecasted and reported on everything from Nor'easters to ice storms to spring flooding and major droughts during her time in the Boston 25 Weather Center," according to her bio.

In the chief meteorologist role, Spear will "oversee the station’s weather coverage across all platforms, lead the team of weather experts, guide severe weather strategy, and participate in community outreach efforts,” according to Boston 25 News.

Spear takes over the role from Kevin Lemanowicz, who was with Boston 25 News for 30 years. Lemanowicz announced he would be leaving the station last month.
