MA Weather Forecast: It Gets Colder, And Snowier

More snow? Possibly. Can it get colder than this? Just wait until tomorrow.

The coldest Jan. 6 in recorded Boston history was in 1896, when it fell to minus 10 degrees. While today's temperatures won't threaten that mark, the wind chill would obliterate it. Bundle up, folks. Or better yet, hunker down.

Today's temperatures in Boston are expected to bottom out this morning at 1 degree, while the wind chill factor will make it feel 21 degrees below zero. In Worcester the temperature will drop to 1 degree below zero, while the wind chill factor will make it feel 24 degrees below zero. The Berkshires could feel like minus 35 degrees.

Think that's something? Try New Hampshire's Mount Washington, where the highest summits could see wind chills of minus 100 degrees, according to the Mount Washington Observatory.

Being outside for as few as 10 minutes in Massachusetts today could give way to frostbite. If you have to go out, it's important to your health that you dress in multiple warm layers. A wind chill advisory is in effect for Eastern Massachusetts, and a wind chill warning is in effect in Central and Western Massachusetts. The warnings go until 10 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday will be a bit colder than Saturday - though when you're talking 20-something below degrees below zero, can you really tell the difference?

Sunday may also bring more snow - though not much. Weather.com doesn't have snow in its forecast, but AccuWeather is expecting a "weak storm" to hit New England Sunday night into Monday night.

Even a little bit of snow is unwelcome news to many who are still staring at well over a foot of snow outside their door. Temperatures rebound to slightly above freezing Monday, but it's going to be awhile before it's consistently warm enough for the snow to start melting.
