Man Arrested After Paul Revere's Grave, Holocaust Memorial Vandalized
More than a dozen tombstones, including Paul Revere's, were forcibly pulled from the ground or broken into pieces, police said.

BOSTON, MA — A Boston man was arrested over the weekend after being accused in a vandalism spree that left local landmarks including Paul Revere's grave and the Holocaust Memorial damaged, the Boston Police Department said in a news release Sunday night.
Lawrence Hawkins, 46, was charged with multiple counts of destruction of property and destruction of a place of worship in connection with the brick-throwing vandalism of the museum plus a police car and several residential buildings and businesses.
Hawkins will also be charged with additional counts of destruction of property and defacing a burial site in the vandalism of 14 tombstones—including Revere's—at the Granary Burying Ground and six more at the King’s Chapel Burying Ground, according to police.

The tombstones were forcibly pulled from the ground or broken into pieces, police said.
Officers followed Hawkins through video surveillance before watching him enter the Southampton Street Shelter. Police said they entered the shelter around 4:30 a.m. and took Hawkins into custody.

Hawkins will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court, police said.
