Massachusetts Heat Wave Enters Second Day

Bay staters braved near triple digit temperatures Saturday as a potentially record-breaking heat wave bore down on Massachusetts.

You might have noticed it's still hot out there. A potentially record-breaking heat wave entered its second day Saturday as temperatures continued to flirt with triple digits. As of noontime, nowhere in the state had broken the 100-degree mark, though it wasn't for lack of trying.

According to the National Weather Service, the greater Boston area and parts of the North and South shores reported temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s. The highest reported temperature was the Brockton area at 99 degrees, the NWS said.

Officials continue to warn about prolonged exposure to outside temperatures, which can put people at higher risk for heat stroke and heat exhaustion. It's suggested folks wear light clothing, stay out of the sun, avoid physical exertion and remain hydrated.
