Massachusetts School System Is Best In America Again: Report

We already think we're the best at just about everything in Massachusetts, but there's something validating about others acknowledging it. Thus is the case with WalletHub's recent ranking of the Best School Systems in America.

Whether it's for school safety or quality, the Bay State came out on top for the second straight year - and once again by a wide margin. WalletHub awarded our school system 74.16 points in judging it across 25 metrics. The second-place school system (New Jersey) had 67.09 points.

It's easy to see why Massachusetts came out on top. It ranked first in highest math test scores and highest reading test scores, while tying for the highest median ACT scores (with Connecticut.)

Massachusetts also has the lowest percentage of threatened or injured high school students, the study says. It ranked fifth in lowest bullying-incidence rate.

Lower down the rankings, Massachusetts was 13th in pupil-teacher ratio and 24th in median SAT score.

The rankings also took cues from some U.S. News and World Report content, which routinely ranks Massachusetts and its schools exceptionally well.
