Meet The Richest Person In Massachusetts

Being worth $14.7 billion puts her in good standing — even among her multi-billionaire family.

Forbes analyzed the fortunes of the country’s richest people to identify each state’s wealthiest person. This is the magazine’s fifth edition of the list.

The richest resident in Massachusetts is Abigail Johnson, the chairman and CEO of Fidelity Investments. Johnson, who lives in Milton, is worth $14.7 billion, according to Forbes. In March's list of the country's billionaires, Johnson ranked No. 71 — but at that point Forbes had her worth at $15.6 billion.

Johnson, 57, took over for her father, Edward Johnson III, who is still worth nearly $8 billion. Her brother, Edward Johnson IV, and sister, Elizabeth Johnson, are each worth $3.5 billion.

The net worth of the individuals on the list varies. For example, Washington is home to the world’s two richest and most recognizable billionaires; Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates, but in certain states, the richest people only had a nine-figure net worth, Forbes writes.

Collectively, the wealthy on the Forbes list had a net worth of $875 billion, which the magazine says set a new record.
