New Bedford Man Charged In South End Killing

BOSTON, MA — A New Bedford man has been charged in connection to an August killing in the South End.

According to police, officers responded to 58 West Dedham St. on Aug. 13 on a report of a shooting. At the scene, they found Dion Ruiz suffering from a gunshot wound, and he later died at a local hospital.

On Thursday morning, Alexander Nunez, 24, turned himself in on a warrant connected to the shooting. Police will seek to charge Nunez with murder.

Police have also identified a man shot and killed this week in Roxbury. Police discovered Idelfonso Velez, 22, a Boston resident, shot along Kensington Street in Roxbury late Wednesday night.
