4. Judge Julian T. Houston, an activist on and off the bench, dies at 82 (bostonglobe.com) — Boston-area residents are remembering Judge Julian T. Houston, a former Roxbury District and Superior Court judge who died Sept. 10 at 82 after decades of civic and civil-rights work. From launching child-care centers in Massachusetts courthouses to mentoring young lawyers and supporting Boston youth programs, he left a lasting mark on the city's justice system and communities.
   

5. Motorcycle procession honors Boston firefighter 'Bobby' Kilduff Jr. (bostonglobe.com) — A memorial motorcycle procession on Sunday honored late third-generation Boston firefighter and Marine veteran Bobby Kilduff Jr., ending at Florian Hall in Dorchester and raising money for his family.
