People Who Paid Out, Organized Ortiz Shooting ID'd: Documents
Alberto Miguel Rodríguez Mota paid for David Ortiz's shooting and Gabriel Alexander Perez Vizcaino organized the hit squad, reports say.

Multiple people apparently higher up in the chain of events that triggered the shooting of David Ortiz were identified, according to court documents. One man, still a fugitive, was accused of paying the money to various people involved in what authorities called an assassination attempt of the Red Sox icon and Dominican hero, according to The Boston Globe and other media outlets.
Alberto Miguel Rodríguez Mota paid for the shooting, while Gabriel Alexander Perez Vizcaino organized the hit squad, prosecutors said in court documents filed in the Dominican Republic. Jose Eduardo Ciprian was accused of introducing the two men.
Mota was still at large Tuesday. Viscaino was in custody, while Ciprian was already in prison at the time of last Sunday's attack on Ortiz.

Mota was accused of paying what amounts $7,800 to the team. Ciprian at one point sent Mota a photo of the target, but the documents don't say who was in the photo.
The alleged gunman, Rolfi Ferreras Cruz, reportedly said Ortiz was not the target, and was confused because of what Ortiz was wearing.

Authorities suggested they could release more details about the Ortiz shooting this week.
Ortiz was shot Sunday night in his hometown of Santo Domingo, the Dominican capital. Police said he was shot once in the back at close range. He was rushed to a Dominican hospital and flown to Massachusetts General Hospital Monday night.
Ortiz, who suffered significant organ damage, was in "guarded condition" in the intensive care unit at MGH, his wife, Tiffany Ortiz, said in a statement late last week. Ortiz has spoken to family, sat up and taken some steps.
