Too Cold For School? Some Districts Think So

One school district won't open tomorrow, and several others are opening either late or early.

How cold is too cold for school? For some districts, it appears whatever ridiculously low number Tuesday morning's wind chill will bring is the answer.

Everett Public Schools is canceling school completely Tuesday, while several other school districts are starting either early or late. Malden Public Schools are opening early to provide students with a warm place if they get to school early. Other school districts, like Peabody and Lawrence, are opening two hours later. Concord-Carlisle Regional is also among those opening two hours late.

Temperatures at 6 a.m. will be just over zero degrees, and wind chill factors will make it feel like it's minus 15 degrees. Temperatures will hit double digits around 10 a.m., when wind chill factors will still be below zero.
